Members of Hot Chip, This Heat, and Spiritualized came together to form the English improvisational rock group About Group in 2009. The London-based band is renowned for recorded albums without performing the songs together or preparing them beforehand.
In 2009, John Coxon's own Treader label published About Group's debut album. They recorded the album in a single day despite never having performed before, and it was released at the Queen Elizabeth Hall's Meltdown event, which was hosted by Ornette Coleman.
The second album, "Start & Complete," by About Group, is scheduled to be released on Domino Records in February 2011. Similar to their debut album, "Start & Complete" was likewise recorded at Abbey Road Studios in a single day.
