_______________

Which right had been denied to women in the 1800s?
A. The right to equal pay in the workforce.
B. The right to religious freedom.
C. The right to participate in the electorate
D. The right to the freedom of speech.

Answers

The correct answer is C.) The Right to participate in the electorate.

The reason that C is correct is as follows:

Back in the 1800's, women were not able to vote, even after they had gotten married. I believe that A is also partially right, but the main focus is directed on answer C.

Now we know that B is not the answer because, at this time, the Constitution had been signed and made, which meant that the amendment for the freedom of religion had already been made, securing the right to religious freedom to everybody.

Lastly, we know that D is not the right answer because, the freedom of speech was also an amendment that the Constitution secured upon it's signing. The only reason that some articles say that women did not have the freedom of speech was because back then, men had a lot of power over their spouses and sometimes, the man was oppressive.

What is nullification? What problems did it cause?

Answers

Answer:

Nullification was the increase in Tariffs by 50%, imposed by the Federal Government. It caused problems because people knew it would lead to poverty, as it did. They believed it would bring poverty to the Southern area as they had far more agriculture.

Originally, the tariffs were considered “protective” in nature. Tariffs are the taxes levied on foreign goods or imported products.

The 1828 Tariff Abominations increased the tariffs up to 50%, thus igniting the nullification crisis.

In 1832, the Committee of Manufacturers, headed by John Quincy Adams, drafted a new tariff bill to control the growing protest from the South. On July 14, 1832, the Tariff of 1832 that reduced the tariff rates to 35% was passed, yet it failed to pacify southern protesters.

On November 24, 1832, the South Carolina legislature passed the Ordinance of Nullification voiding the Tariffs of 1828 and 1832 applicable within its borders. The Nullification Crisis flared up. As a result, President Andrew Jackson issued the Nullification Proclamation to the people of South Carolina on December 10, 1832. It was meant to highlight federal rights over the state’s rights on the issue of tariffs. President Jackson fiercely ordered the collection of duties starting from Charleston.

As a result, Calhoun admitted the authorship of the Exposition and Protest during the Nullification Crisis. He was the first US Vice President to resign as a form of protest against President Jackson and led the South Carolina Legislature.

On March 2, 1833, the Congress gave President Jackson greater power through the Force Bill. The bill authorized the use of military power against resisting states and rejected the Doctrine of Nullification.

Together with Calhoun, Henry Clay proposed the Compromise Tariff and it was passed the same month. It ended the Nullification Crisis with the lowering of tariff rates up to 20-25%. It became the foundation of Henry Clay’s American System in reference to the US economic plan.

The Nullification Crisis was considered the first sectional conflict between the states of the north and south. The demarcation line on issues of slavery soon led to the American Civil War in 1861.

Warfare throughout most of history relied on armies fighting in large, close formations. How has technology led to major changes in this military tactic?

Question 3 options:

Trench warfare was developed to allow troops to move more quickly across the battlefield.

More accurate and lethal weaponry was developed, such as the rifle and machine gun.

Airplanes, first used in World War II, allowed militaries to see and track enemy positions.

The Industrial Revolution allowed for mass production of muskets, resulting in more firearms being widely used in combat.

Answers

Answer:     Trench warfare is a type of land warfare using occupied lines largely comprising military trenches, in which troops are well-protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery. Trench warfare became archetypically associated with World War I (1914–1918), when the Race to the Sea rapidly expanded trench use on the Western Front starting in September 1914.[1]

Trench warfare proliferated when a revolution in firepower was not matched by similar advances in mobility, resulting in a gruelling form of warfare in which the defender held the advantage.[2] On the Western Front in 1914–1918, both sides constructed elaborate trench, underground, and dugout systems opposing each other along a front, protected from assault by barbed wire. The area between opposing trench lines (known as "no man's land") was fully exposed to artillery fire from both sides. Attacks, even if successful, often sustained severe casualties.

How did automobiles affect businesses and the economy? How did automobiles affect the landscape? What forms of transportation did the automobile replace? How did the automobile change everyday life?

Answers

Answer:

Auto manufacturing drives $1.1 trillion into the economy each year through the sales and servicing of autos and flows through the economy, from revenue to parts suppliers to paychecks for assembly plant workers, from income for auto-related small business to revenue for government.

In several respects, the automobile made its impact felt first in rural areas where cars were used for touring and recreation on the weekends as opposed to replacing existing transit that brought people to and from work in urban areas. Some of the earliest paved roads were landscaped parkways along scenic routes.

In one decade, cars replaced horses (and bicycles) as the standard form of transport for people and goods in the United States. In 1907 there were 140,300 cars registered in the U.S. and a paltry 2,900 trucks.

The automobile gave people access to jobs, places to live, and services. It also contributed to the rise of leisure activities. And with leisure came new services. These included motels, hotels, amusement parks and other recreation, restaurants and fast food.

Amelia Earhart was an American aviator who set many flying records and championed the advancement of women in aviation. She became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and the first person ever to fly solo from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland. During a flight to circumnavigate the globe, Earhart disappeared somewhere over the Pacific in July 1937. Her plane wreckage was never found, and she was officially declared lost at sea. Her disappearance remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century.Amelia Mary Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. She defied traditional gender roles from a young age. Earhart played basketball, took an auto repair course and briefly attended college.

During World War I, she served as a Red Cross nurse’s aid in Toronto, Canada. Earhart began to spend time watching pilots in the Royal Flying Corps train at a local airfield while in Toronto.

After the war, she returned to the United States and enrolled at Columbia University in New York as a pre-med student. Earhart took her first airplane ride in California in December 1920 with famed World War I pilot Frank Hawks—and was forever hooked. In January 1921, she started flying lessons with female flight instructor Neta Snook. To help pay for those lessons, Earhart worked as a filing clerk at the Los Angeles Telephone Company. Later that year, she purchased her first airplane, a secondhand Kinner Airster. She nicknamed the yellow airplane “the Canary.”

Earhart passed her flight test in December 1921, earning a National Aeronautics Association license. Two days later, she participated in her first flight exhibition at the Sierra Airdrome in Pasadena, California.
