Hi! So, I've got a question. My Math problem is a 2 part problem. Let me just write it out real quick.

"Two students are reading a book. Keith reads 6 pages a day. Tameka reads 5 pages a day, but he starts sooner and has already read 15 pages.

Part A

Write a system or equations to represent the situation, using d for days and p for pages.

Part B

Graph the system of equations.

The graph's Y axis counts up by ten's. 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, etc all the way to one hundred. The x-axis counts by five's, all the way to 25.

Part C

Will Keith and Tameka ever be on the same day? Explain?"

Here's the part that confuses me. My teacher writes down little notes on our sheets, telling us what is required to receive full credit. For the graphing part, she lists there is two lines that we need. I don't know what lines she would be talking about. I only have one equation. Is anyone able to help?

Answers

Answer 1

Okay!

This problem is a systems of equations - graphically, your answer will be where all the lines in the problem/system intersect.

You are given two rates at the beginning of the problem:

Keith's rate: 6 pages a day

Tameka's rate: 5 pages a day, 15 page headstart.

When you are given a rate, that is automatically a line! That's what makes these systems of equations really neat.

Try taking Keith and Tameka's rates individually and come up with an equation for the both of them, and then put the two on a graph.

(hint: substitute x for pages)

Good luck!

Answers

Hi, this question has been asked before! Here's the answer they gave:

The task is to find the original coordinates with the transformed ones given, so you have to apply the inverse of the stated transformations.

Q"( 6,-1),R"(0,-1) and S"(0,-7)

-> rotate 90 anti-clockwise

Q'(1,6), R'(1,0),S'(7,0)

-> translate left by 7 units

Q(-6,6), R(-6,0), S(0,0)

answer: x+3

explanation:
start by combing what’s in the parentheses, but you can’t considering you can’t add or subtract terms with different bases. so then you’ll remove the parentheses, which leads to: x+3+x+2-2x+3+x-1. you change the signs on the 2x and -3 because there is a - in front of the parentheses. so then you will combine all the x’s like so: x+x-2x+x, which equals 1x, or x. so then you’ll combine the the numbers like so: 3-2+3-1, which equals 3. so you’re answer is x+3

The equation for finding the y intercept (or the 'b' in y=mx+b) is b=y₁-m⋅x₁

When you input the given values into the equation you get b=3-(-1/2)⋅4

When you solve this equation, you get a b value of 5.

Is the inverse of the following conditional true?

[[ If j<6, then j≤3. ]]

Answers

Answer:

Yes it is true

Step-by-step explanation:

Yes, the the inverse of the condition [[ If j<6, then j≤3. ]] is true

How to determine the statement

The inverse statement assumes the opposite of each of the original statements

It is represented as;

p→∼q (if not p, then not q)

From the information given, we have that;

"If j 6 then j 3," the original statement goes. The converse is: "If j is not less than 6, then j is not less than or equal to 3." This can be reduced to "If j 6 then j > 3."

The inverse is true because if j is larger than or equal to 6, it will always be greater than 3.

Answers

Answer:

(y-9)=-3(x+2)

Step-by-step explanation:

yeah-ya..... right?

Answer:

y - 9 = -3(x + 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Point-slope formula is named for the information that you can pick right out of the equation, that is a point on the line and the slope. It is:

y - y = m (x - x)

The m is the slope. They gave you that the slope is -3 so fill in -3 in place of the m.

The point you were given was (-2,9) the -2 is the x and the 9 is the y.

In the formula fill in the second y with 9 and fill in the second x with the -2.

Keep the first y and the first x (that's right inside the parenthesis) those stay as variables in your point-slope formula

It's literally a fill-in-the-blank problem.

y - 9 = -3(x + 2)
