The Constitution created a national military, where defense would not depend on donations from the states.
The Constitution created a Congress, where each state would have one elected official to represent it.
The Constitution created an executive branch, allowing each state to lobby the president for vetoes.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

B. The Constitution created a national military l, where defense would not depend on donations from the states.

Explanation:

In 1786, Virginia and Maryland invited delegates from the other eleven states to meet in Annapolis, Maryland, revising the Articles of Confederation. However, only five states sent representatives. Because all thirteen states had to agree to any alteration of the Articles, the convention in Annapolis could not accomplish its goal. Two of the delegates, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, requested that all states send delegates to a convention in Philadelphia the following year to attempt once again to revise the Articles of Confederation. All the states except Rhode Island chose delegates to send to the meeting, a total of seventy men in all, but many did not attend. Among those not in attendance were John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, both of whom were overseas representing the country as diplomats. Because the shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation proved impossible to overcome, the convention that met in Philadelphia in 1787 decided to create an entirely new government. Fifty-five delegates arrived in Philadelphia in May 1787 for the meeting that became known as the Constitutional Convention. Many wanted to strengthen the role and authority of the national government but feared creating a central government that was too powerful. They wished to preserve state autonomy, although not to a degree that prevented the states from working together collectively or made them entirely independent of the will of the national government. While seeking to protect the rights of individuals from government abuse, they nevertheless wished to create a society in which concerns for law and order did not give way in the face of demands for individual liberty. They wished to give political rights to all free men but also feared mob rule, which many felt would have been the result of Shays’ Rebellion had it succeeded. Delegates from small states did not want their interests pushed aside by delegations from more populous states like Virginia. And everyone was concerned about slavery. Representatives from southern states worried that delegates from states where it had been or was being abolished might try to outlaw the institution. Those who favored a nation free of the influence of slavery feared that southerners might attempt to make it a permanent part of American society. The only decision that all could agree on was the election of George Washington, the former commander of the Continental Army and hero of the American Revolution, as the president of the convention.

Why is deforestation a threat to the environment?

It causes erosion, which leads to flooding.

It releases radioactive materials into the environment.

It pollutes waterways, which harms marine life.

It produces acid rain.

Answers

Deforestation is a threat to the environment because it causes erosion, leading to flooding, pollutes waterways, harms marine life, and contributes to the production of acid rain.

Deforestation poses a significant threat to the environment due to several reasons. Firstly, it causes erosion, which leads to increased vulnerability to flooding. The removal of trees disrupts the natural absorption of rainwater, leading to soil erosion and increased surface runoff, which can result in devastating floods.

Secondly, deforestation does not release radioactive materials into the environment. However, it does contribute to environmental degradation in various other ways. For instance, deforestation can lead to the pollution of waterways. Without the natural tree cover, soil erosion occurs, and sediments enter nearby streams and rivers, polluting the water and adversely affecting aquatic ecosystems and marine life.

Lastly, deforestation contributes to the production of acid rain indirectly. The cutting down of trees reduces the uptake of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas responsible for climate change. As a result, excess carbon dioxide remains in the atmosphere, contributing to the greenhouse effect and increasing the acidity of rainfall.

Overall, deforestation's impacts on erosion, water pollution, and the exacerbation of climate change highlight the grave environmental threats it poses and emphasize the need for sustainable forest management and conservation practices.

Which astronomical theory did the ancient Indians develop?

a.the moon’s gravitational pull on Earth
b. the Sun’s revolution around Earth
c. the moon’s influence on the shape of Earth’s surface
d. the blocking of the Sun’s light during a solar eclipse

Answers

Answer:

Indian astronomy was influenced by Greek astronomy beginning in the 4th century BCE and through the early centuries of the Common Era, for example by the Yavanajataka and the Romaka Siddhanta, a Sanskrit translation of a Greek text disseminated from the 2nd century.

Explanation:

"The blocking of the Sun's light during a solar eclipse Mark" is an astronomical theory, ancient Indians develop. Thus, option 'D' is the correct option.

What did Indian astronomers discover?

Indian astronomers made exact measurements on the Earth's rotation and direction; European astronomers had made similar predictions centuries previously to clarify conceptions of Earth's rotation.

Aryabhata (476-550), an Indian astronomer and mathematician, established a heliocentric universe in his magnum opus Aryabhatiya, in which the Earth was thought to rotate on its axis and the periods of the planets were given in relation to a stationary Sun.

Another astronomer, Chaturveda Prithudaka Swami, who is well-known for his work on mathematical equations, contended that the planets and stars rise and set due to the Earth's constant daily rotation and the fixed location of the starry sphere. Aryabhata I was a great mathematician and astronomer in ancient India (ad 476). Hence, option D is correct.
