In python please:

Assume the variable definitions references a dictionary. Write an ig statement that determined whether the key ‘marsupial’ exist in the dictionary. If so, delete ‘marsupial’ and it’s associated value. If the key is not the dictionary, display a message indicating so.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

"

if 'marsupial' in dictionary:

   del dictionary['marsupial']

else:

print("The key marsupial is not in the dictionary")

"

Explanation:

So you can use the keyword "in" to check if a certain key exists.

So the following code:

"

if key in object:

   # some code

"

will only run if the value of "key" is a key in the object dictionary.

So using this, we can check if the string "marsupial' exists in the dictionary.

"

if 'marsupial' in dictionary:

   # code

"

Since you never gave the variable name for the variable that references a dictionary, I'm just going to use the variable name "dictionary"

Anyways, to delete a key, there are two methods.

"

del dictionary[key]

dictionary.pop(key)

"

Both will raise the error "KeyError" if the key doesn't exist in the dictionary, although there is method with pop that causes an error to not be raised, but that isn[t necessary in this case, since you're using the if statement to check if it's in the dictionary first.

So I'll just use del dictionary[key] method here

"

if 'marsupial' in dictionary:

   del dictionary['marsupial']

else:

print("The key marsupial is not in the dictionary")

"

The last part which I just added in the code is just an else statement which will only run if the key 'marsupial' is not in the dictionary.

For a certain company, the cost function for producing x items is C(x)=50x+100 and the revenue function for selling x items is R(x)=−0.5(x−100)2+5,000 . The maximum capacity of the company is 120 items.

The profit function P(x) is the revenue function R(x) (how much it takes in) minus the cost function C(x) (how much it spends). In economic models, one typically assumes that a company wants to maximize its profit, or at least make a profit!

Answers to some of the questions are given below so that you can check your work.

Assuming that the company sells all that it produces, what is the profit function?
P(x)=

Answers

Assuming that this company sells all that it produces, the profit function would be given by P(x) = -0.5(x - 100)² + 5,000 - 50x - 100.

What is profit?

In Economics, profit can be defined as a measure of the amount of money (revenue) that is generated when the selling price is deducted from the cost price of a good or service, which is usually provided by producers.

This ultimately implies that, all producers generally work to maximize their profits and make them as large as possible, in order to enable them break even and successful.

Mathematically, the profit function P(x) of a business firm simply refers to the revenue function R(x) minus the cost function C(x):

P(x) = R(x) - C(x)

Where:

R(x) represents how much it takes in.C(x) represents how much it spends.

Substituting the given parameters into the formula, we have;

P(x) = -0.5(x - 100)² + 5,000 - (50x + 100)

P(x) = -0.5(x - 100)² + 5,000 - 50x - 100

Forman1911THE MATCHThere never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.(Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by natureby a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.)In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar. What information do we get from the perentheses paragraph that develops the main idea of the essay?A How nature started the first fires B How humans came up with the idea for matches C The need for a new way to create fire D The way matches are made You have learned about the cultural influences of Peru and Costa Rica.
