Mrs. Bailey has equal numbers of nickels and quarters but the value of the quarters is $1.80 more than the value of the nickels. What is the total value of all coins together in dollars and cents

Answers

Answer 1

Total value of all coins together is $2.7

Linear equations are equations having variables with power 1. ax+b = 0 is an example with one variable where x is the variable, a and b are real numbers.

1 Nickel = $0.05 and 1 quarter = $0.25.

Let number of nickels and number of quarter be x.

According to the situation

x.(0.25) = $1.80 + x.($0.05)

x(0.25 - 0.05) = $1.80

x (0.2) = $1.80

x = $1.80/0.2

x = 9 coins

Therefore total value of the currency is 9(0.05 + $0.25) = 9 (0.3) = $2.7

Thus total value of all coins together is $2.7.

The length of the radius of a circle exists 41 units.

How to estimate the length of  the radius of a circle?

Given: The center exists at -7+2i and a point in the circle at 33+11i.

The radius of the circle exists given by the following formula;

The radius of the circle [tex]$=\sqrt{x^{2}+y^{2}}$[/tex]

The center exists at -7 + 2i and a point in the circle at 33 + 11i.

[tex]$&x(33-(-7)), y(2 \mathrm{i}-11 \mathrm{i}) \\[/tex]

simplifying the equation, we get

[tex]$&\mathrm{x}(33+7), \mathrm{y}(-9 \mathrm{i}) \\[/tex]

[tex]$&\mathrm{x}(40), \mathrm{y}(-9(-1)) \\[/tex]

[tex]$&\mathrm{x}(33+7), \mathrm{y}(9)[/tex]

The center of the circle exists at [tex]$&\mathrm{x}(33+7), \mathrm{y}(9)[/tex].

The length of the radius of a circle exists,

Radius [tex]$}=\sqrt{x^{2}+y^{2}} \\[/tex]

substituting the values of x and y, we get

Radius[tex]$}=\sqrt{40^{2}+9^{2}} \\[/tex]

Radius [tex]$}=\sqrt{1600+81} \\[/tex]

Find sin(2x), cos(2x), and tan(2x) from the given information. sin(x) = 5 13 , x in quadrant i

Answers

The value of trigonometry terms sin(2x) is 120/169 and cos(2x) is 119/169 and tan(2x) is 120/119.

According to the statement

We have given that the sin(x) = 5/13 , x in quadrant iii

And we have to Find the value of cos x using the following:

So, For this purpose, we know that the trigonometry terms are:

sin2(x) + cos2(x) = 1;

or cos2(x) = 1-sin2(x)

And

cos2(x) = 1-(-5/13)2 =

cos2(x) = 144/169;

We know that the

In quadrant III both the sin and cos are negative so

cos(x) = -12/13 (after taking square roots).

And

Then tan(x) = sin(x)/cos(x) = (-5/13)/(-12/13) = 5/12.

Now you can use the angle addition formulas to find sin(2x), cos(2x), and tan(2x).

Now

sin(x + x) = sinx * cosx + cosx * sinx

              = (-5/13)*(-12/13) + (-12/13)(-5/13) = 120/169

And

cos(x + x) = cosX * cos(x) - sinx*sinx

               = (-12/13)(-12/13) - (-5/13)(-5/13)

               =  119/169

So,

You could use the tan double angle formula, but it is easiest to use

tan(2x) = sin(2x)/cos(2x)  = (120/169) / (119/169)

          = 120/119.

So, The value of trigonometry terms sin(2x) is 120/169 and cos(2x) is 119/169 and tan(2x) is 120/119.

Answer:

  s = -24

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a 2-step linear equation, so can be solved the way all 2-step equations are solved.

Solution

Step 1

Identify the constant term on the side of the equation with the variable term, and add its opposite to both sides.

  [tex]7 = \dfrac{1}{6}s+11\qquad\text{given}\\\\7-11=\dfrac{1}{6}s+11-11\qquad\text{add $-11$ to both sides}\\\\-4=\dfrac{1}{6}s\qquad\text{simplify}[/tex]

Step 2

Multiply both sides by the inverse of the coefficient of the variable.

  [tex](6)(-4)=(6)\left(\dfrac{1}{6}s\right)\qquad\text{multiply both sides by 6}\\\\\boxed{-24=s}\qquad\text{simplify}[/tex]

Alternate solution

Often, when equations contain fractions, you are advised to "eliminate fractions" as a first step. That generally means you multiply both sides of the equation by a suitable common denominator.

Here, the only denominator is 6, so the fraction can be eliminated by multiplying both sides of the equation by 6.

  [tex]7=\dfrac{1}{6}s+11\qquad\text{given}\\\\6(7)=6\left(\dfrac{1}{6}s+11\right)\qquad\text{multiply both sides by 6}\\\\42=s+66\qquad\text{simplify}\\\\42-66=s+66-66\qquad\text{add the opposite of 66 to both sides}\\\\\boxed{-24=s}\qquad\text{simplify}[/tex]

You will note this requires the same number of steps, but you don't have to mess with fractions after the first step.

Check

The value we found for the variable can be checked in the original equation.

Answer:

  (c)  f(g(3)) > g(f(3))

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between the function values can be found by evaluating the functions.

f(g(3))

The order of operations tells us we must first evaluate g(3).

  g(x) = -3x +15

  g(3) = -3(3) +15 = 6

Then we can evaluate f(x) for x=6:

  f(x) = 7x

  f(6) = 7(6) = 42

So, the composition is ...

  f(g(3)) = 42

g(f(3))

As above, we must first evaluate f(3):

  f(3) = 7(3) = 21

Then we can evaluate g(x) for x=21:

  g(21) = -3(21) +15 = -63 +15 = -48

That means the composition is ...

  g(f(3)) = -48

Comparison

The first is greater than the second.

  42 > -48

  f(g(3)) > g(f(3))

A rectangle has dimension 23cm by 41cm and is made with a piece of wire How long will each length be for an equilateral triangle?

Answers

Each side of equilateral triangle will have the length equals to 42.7 cm.

Quadrilaterals

There are different types of quadrilaterals, for example, square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, and parallelogram.  Each type is defined accordingly to its length of sides and angles. For example, in a rectangle,  the opposite sides are equal and parallel and their interior angles are equal to 90°.

The perimeter of a geometric figure is the sum of its sides. Thus, for a rectangle, the perimeter is 2L+2W.

You should find the perimeter of the rectangle.

2P=23+23+41+41= 128 cm

The equilateral triangle will have the same perimeter of the rectangle. An equilateral triangle presents the equal three sides, thus,

Then, answer the question.Voluntourism: An Opportunity Too Good to be TrueA Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist...encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed-at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation."The Opportunity of a Lifetime"(look at image)Both texts (the speech and the advertisement) address voluntourism. However, each text has a different purpose, which is reflected by the details each writer chose to include. Consider the words and images used.In a paragraph of 6-8 sentences, identify what each text emphasizes and explain how that emphasis reveals each author's position on voluntourism. Be sure to state each author's position and include evidence from both texts to support your analysis. Saying a person has _____disorders means the individual has two or more diagnoses.
