Starr is angered by the news interview featuring One-Fifteen’s father. He says his son wanted to make a difference in the Garden Heights community. Starr responds, “I wish people like them would stop thinking that people like me need saving.” Who do you sympathize with? Tell a story from your life.
From: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Answers

I sympathize with Starr in this situation. I can relate to her frustration, as I have experienced a similar situation in my life.

When I was in high school, I was part of a club that focused on helping low-income communities in our city. We organized fundraising events and collected donations, and then distributed them to people in need. We also ran volunteer programs for people to help out in the local community.

One time, we invited a famous celebrity to come to our event to inspire people and help raise awareness. But instead of focusing on the people we were trying to help, the celebrity spent the entire time talking about how they were the hero and savior of the community. They talked about how they were doing the “real” work, and how everyone else was just along for the ride.

It was infuriating to hear them talk like that, as if they were the only ones doing anything and everyone else was just following them. It made it seem like the people in the community were helpless and needed someone to come in and save them. It was insulting and disrespectful, and it made me angry.

Just like Starr, I wish people like them would stop thinking that people like me need saving. We have the power and the ability to make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. We don't need a savior, we just need support and resources.

Answer:

Could anyone please give me a detailed summary of the Second Age for the Dwarves, the way how they govern themselves (monarchy?), and if they have any magical powers and/or if they have any skills?

Please and thank you so much

I’ll give the most points to the best answer for my project

Answers

After the First Age, most accounts of Dwarves concern those of the line of Durin, who are commonly called Durin’s Folk or Longbeards. Durin I enjoyed a very long life and lived through most of the First Age. Occasionally in the following ages, a Dwarf was born of this line so resembled Durin that he was considered to be Durin reborn. Prophecy told that Durin would be reborn seven times, and that the coming of Durin VII would mark the decline of the Dwarves.

Durin II was born in the Second Age. It is untold exactly when, but either he or Durin III was in power when the smith Narvi built the Doors of Durin. His reign was an era of great prosperity in which the halls of Khazad-dûm were greatly expanded and the Ñoldorin Elves of Lindon moved into Eregion to trade with the Dwarves for mithril. The population of Khazad-dûm boomed, because many refugees from Belegost and Nogrod, which were destroyed at the end of the First Age, moved there.

Seven Rings of Power were given to the Dwarf lords, who remained uncorrupted.Durin III was in power around the year SA 1600. He was gifted with the most powerful of the Dwarven Rings of Power. It was the Elven smith Celebrimbor and not Sauron who gave him the ring. The rings of power did not have the effects that Sauron had intended, possibly because Aulë had made the Dwarves especially resistant to evil domination. The only apparent effect of the Dwarven rings was that the Dwarves became more greedy with gold lust, but they were not turned into wraiths like men. Sauron subsequently tried to recover the rings. Two he reclaimed fairly soon and four ended up in dragon hoards. Sauron did not reclaim the ring of Durin until the year TA 2845, when he captured Thráin II.

Of the Dwarves, few fought upon either side in the War of the Last Alliance; but the kindred of Durin of Khazad-dûm fought against Sauron.

Answer:

The Second Age of Middle-earth, in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings," is a period of history that spans thousands of years, during which the dwarves play a significant role. In this age, the dwarves are known for their skill in crafting, mining, and metalworking, as well as their ability to live and thrive in underground environments.

The dwarves govern themselves through a complex and hierarchical system, with each dwarf clan having its own king. The dwarves are also known for their strong sense of community and loyalty to their clans, which is reflected in their practice of inheritance, where the leadership of a clan passes down from father to son.

As for magic, the dwarves in Middle-earth do not possess any inherent magical powers, but they do have a strong connection to the earth and are able to sense when precious minerals and gems are nearby. Additionally, their skill in crafting and metalworking has resulted in the creation of many magical weapons and artifacts, such as the mithril-clad sword of Thorin Oakenshield in "The Hobbit."

In conclusion, the dwarves of Middle-earth are a proud and skilled race, known for their expertise in crafting and mining, and their strong sense of community and loyalty to their clans. They govern themselves through a monarchy-like system, with each clan having its own king, and do not possess any inherent magical powers, but their skill in crafting and metalworking has resulted in the creation of many magical weapons and artifacts.

Her tutor is hilarious and kinder than she anticipated (we'll call her Blake) so they end up becoming very close friends. For weeks they've been the best of friends, making sure to do everything together. One day Eleni makes a joke about a homeless person on the street, but Blake doesn't find it funny. This is because Blake is actually in foster care so she understands what its like to struggle in life. Eleni realizes how fortunate she is and how inconsiderate she had been for complaining about her problems. Blake shows Eleni how you shouldn't take life for granted and must always live to the fullest despite the bad situations. Blake later dies after being hit by a truck driver late at night, leaving Eleni with the memory of what true happiness is.

I hope you like the storyline, if not feel free to change it up or not use it. If you don't like it I understand because its a very specific subject, it's based partially on my life. Either way have a great day!

A time travel adventure: Write a book about a character who travels through time and experiences different historical events. You could add a sci-fi twist to the story by having the character try to fix a time loop or prevent a catastrophic event from occurring.

A survival story: Set your story in a post-apocalyptic world where your character must survive and thrive against all odds. You could make this story more interesting by adding unique survival elements, like a monster outbreak or a new virus that has killed most of the world's population.

A coming of age story: Follow a character as they grow and mature over the course of the book. This could be a high school drama or a young adult adventure, depending on the direction you want to take the story.

A mystery: Write a book that follows a character trying to solve a mystery, like a murder or a disappearance. You could add suspenseful elements and plot twists to keep the reader guessing until the end.

A fantasy adventure: Create a magical world with unique creatures and lore. Follow a character as they navigate this world and go on an epic quest. You could make this story more unique by adding in elements from different cultures and mythologies.

Remember that the most important thing is to pick a topic that you are passionate about and that you will enjoy writing about. Good luck with your book!

Karina is interested in both the fields of veterinary medicine and dentistry. Her English teacher has assigned her the task of writing an essay in which she compares the two careers. If Karina knows that her essay is going to be a bit long and extremely detailed, it makes the most sense for her to use the point-by-point comparison structure because

the essay is going to be detailed, and point-by-point writing allows the writer to first discuss the similarities between two careers before moving on to the differences.
the essay is going to be detailed, and point-by-point writing allows the writer to organize his or her points in importance from greatest importance to least importance.
the essay is going to be long, and point-by-point writing makes it easier for the writer to keep track of the details if the differences and similarities between the two careers are discussed one point at a time.

Answer:

The field of veterinary medicine and dentistry have a lot in common, but also have distinct differences that set them apart. Both careers are dedicated to helping others, whether it's animals in the case of veterinary medicine or humans in the case of dentistry. In terms of education and training, both require a significant amount of study, including attending college and obtaining a degree.

However, the focus of each career is different. Veterinary medicine is concerned with the health and well-being of animals, from preventive care to diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries. Dentistry, on the other hand, focuses on the oral health of humans, from cleaning teeth to performing surgeries to correct problems.

Both careers also involve the use of cutting-edge technology, such as X-rays and digital imaging, to diagnose and treat patients. In veterinary medicine, the technology may be used to diagnose internal issues in animals, while in dentistry, it can help dentists to create more accurate and effective treatment plans.

Another key difference is the work environment. Veterinary medicine is a field that involves working with animals, which can be physically and emotionally demanding. Dentistry is typically performed in a clinical setting, and while it still requires a great deal of precision and attention to detail, it is generally less physically demanding than veterinary medicine.

In conclusion, both veterinary medicine and dentistry are important and fulfilling careers that offer individuals the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. While they have similarities in terms of education and training, their focus, work environment, and use of technology sets them apart.
