The D.C. ordinance is ground-breaking because it mandates that police officers record each stop they make and every interaction they have with a civilian.
As a result, police officers are held responsible for their actions and people are protected from arbitrary stops and searches. In order to properly safeguard the rights of their citizens and guarantee police personnel are held accountable, many towns and states will probably enact their own versions of this law.

I definitely consider myself to be one those people who experiences speech anxiety and the main thing that makes me nervous is the audience judging me. I begin to think of these negative thoughts that the audience can judge me for which then causes my anxiety to go through the roof. As I am getting old I have realized that there are many other things to stress about and be fearful about. Yes, talking infront of others can be intimitading but if you fill your head of positive thoughts and reassure yourself that the speech will be a success it will most likely be that. Most of the time, we overthink things which I consider to be a bad trait because we end up realizing that we were stressing for no reason. Speech anxiety can be hard to deal with but it is something manageable. As you mentioned, speaking infront of a familar audience such as people you know is very helpful for speech anxiety. Having a familar face or faces when speaking infront of others can definitely be an anxiety reliever. Speaking infront of people I know does make me feel more confident when presenting my speech. I believe I feel more comfortable infront of people I know because the thoughts of the audience judging me does not cross my mind. Not that the people I know won't judge me but I rather be judged or criticized by people that I know rather than from a random stranger.
I absolutely comprehend your perspective. Although dealing with a fear of public speaking might be extremely difficult, it's crucial to keep in mind that you are in control.
You can decide to concentrate on ideas that will make your speech successful. Speaking in front of familiar faces, such as relatives and family, is also beneficial since it can give you the confidence boost you need to give a powerful speech. And if you still experience speaking anxiety, keep in mind that your audience is likely experiencing listening anxiety on par with your own.
Taking deep breaths and speaking slowly and confidently can help you overcome any nerves. Finally, remind yourself that practice makes perfect—the more you practice and deliver your speech, the more confident and comfortable you will eventually become.
