CHAPTER II—THE SHE-WOLF, an excerpt
From White Fang
By Jack London

Breakfast eaten and the slim camp-outfit lashed to the sled, the men turned their backs on the cheery fire and launched out into the darkness. At once began to rise the cries that were fiercely sad—cries that called through the darkness and cold to one another and answered back. Conversation ceased. Daylight came at nine o'clock. At midday the sky to the south warmed to rose-colour, and marked where the bulge of the earth intervened between the meridian sun and the northern world. But the rose-colour swiftly faded. The grey light of day that remained lasted until three o'clock, when it, too, faded, and the pall of the Arctic night descended upon the lone and silent land.

As darkness came on, the hunting-cries to right and left and rear drew closer—so close that more than once they sent surges of fear through the toiling dogs, throwing them into short-lived panics.

At the conclusion of one such panic, when he and Henry had got the dogs back in the traces, Bill said:

"I wisht they'd strike game somewheres, an' go away an' leave us alone."

"They do get on the nerves horrible," Henry sympathized.

They spoke no more until camp was made.

Read this line from the story:

As darkness came on, the hunting-cries to right and left and rear drew closer, ...

What is the purpose of this sentence in the story?
It implies a mood of utter despair.
It implies a near tragic event.
It creates a feeling of being trapped.
It creates a sense of action.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

It can implie a mood of utter despair

but its not fully is it

HOPE THIS TERRIBLE ANSWER helps

Answer 2

Answer:

First, it creates a feeling of something bad so D is incorrect. darkness implies despair or something bad, but the next phrase, "the hunting-cries to right and left and rear drew closer" give a feeling of being trapped. Since nothing bad does happen, B is also incorrect. And, the characters arent in despair. they aren't curling up into balls and wailing but they are on edge and fearful. They haven't given up hope yet. so that leaves the answer to be C. It creates a feeling of being trapped. Think about it, if some unknown figure of darkness was surrounding you and you couldn't see or fight it, how you you feel? I might be wrong, but that is what I think. Hope it helps!

Monetary policy designed to slow down economic activity is called _____ monetary policy?
A inflationary
B. expansionary
C. contractionary
D. deflationary

Answers

Answer: C. Contractionary

Explanation: Just took the quiz

Monetary policy designed to slow down economic activity is called contractionary monetary policy. The correct option is C.

The government uses monetary policy to manage the economy by controlling the money supply and influencing interest rates.

When the economy is growing too quickly and there is a risk of inflation, the government may implement a contractionary monetary policy to slow economic activity and keep prices from rising too quickly.

This is typically accomplished by reducing the money supply, raising interest rates, or both, making borrowing more expensive and reducing economic spending.

Thus, the correct option is C.

Then you need human resources. These are the people who will build your house. These are the carpenters, bricklayers, welders and other laborers who are needed to create your home. Lastly there is the capital goods or things you will stock your house with such as food, furniture and other things that you value. Once your house is complete, you will now enjoy all the comforts of home. It is not easy to build a house these days. A lot of people would want a house of their own.
