How are the blunt and sharp pipettes

used in the cloning process?

(please answer in simple words i don't even understand the question)

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

During the process of the type of cloning known as Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT), once the nucleus is removed from the egg cell, blunt and sharp pipette both are used. The purpose of the blunt pipette is to hold the egg cell in position whereas the sharp pipette penetrates the cell to take the nucleus out by sucking it - a process known as "enucleation". This nucleus is discarded. Rather, this nucleus is replaced by a nucleus taken out from a somatic cell (same way as described before) of the same organism.

I believe this question is trying to get you to realize the difference between acquired traits(one you get through doing something during life) and heritable traits(ones from Mom/Dad). For example, I really wish I was 6 foot 4... but the height trait comes genetically from your parents since it is coded in my DNA how tall I will be, therefore this trait must be passed down genetically and somewhere down the evolutionary tree the humans in the region which my family comes from was better off being short. An example that comes from acquired traits could be muscularity... my parents are both not very muscular but throughout my lifetime I enjoy working out and have become much more muscular, no matter how much your parents or grandparents lift weights YOU won't change so that change must be acquired through aging during your lifetime. Now the amount of muscle your body can put on is a heritable thing but that is beside the point. Hope this helps :)

d. Adding a gene for mold resistance to corn DNA

Answers

Answer

D, genetic modification is a technique to change the characteristics of a plant, animal or micro-organism by transferring a piece of DNA from one organism to a different organism.

Explanation:

(mark as brainliest please)

Changes in genetic data lead to gene modification. Adding a gene for mold resistance to corn DNA is an example of genetic modification. option D is the correct answer.

What is genetic modification?

Genetic modification is a process in which the genes of an organism are modified. This can be done by base insertion or deletion or by any other environmental factor. Genetic modification can be done artificially. CRISPR-Cas9, gene editing, etc. are some examples.

This is done to get more productivity in crops, to reverse a genetic disease, etc. An example is adding a gene for mold resistance to corn DNA. Due to this gene modification, the corn will produce some proteins that will protect it from mold attack. Other options are not correct for the statement, as there is no change in gene activity.

Hence, the correct option is to add a gene for mold resistance to the corn. Option D is the correct answer.

Option D) - Spontaneously generate.

Answer:

Spontaneously generate

Explanation:

all living things have cells, are similar chemically (like have water) and respond to surroundings.

What is the cause of Angelman Syndrome?

a) A mutation that occurs randomly after birth or due to a viral infection in the mother during pregnancy.

b) The shutting off of the paternal chromosome and the deletion on Chromosome 15 from the mother.

c) The shutting off of the maternal chromosome and the deletion on Chromosome 15 from the father.

d) A large deletion of chromosome 15 that is inherited from each parent.

Answers

Answer:

Angelman syndrome is caused by a genetic mutation on chromosome 15.

Explanation:

Angelman syndrome is caused by a genetic mutation on chromosome 15. The name of this gene is UBE3A. Normally, people inherit one copy of the gene from each parent, and both copies become active in many areas in the body. Angelman syndrome occurs when only one copy of the gene is active in certain areas of the brain.

Which statement best describes Mendel's law of dominance?
O
A. Each parent of an offspring contributes two factors for each of the
offspring's traits.
B. The separation of two factors for one trait will always affect the

O
C. Inherited traits are controlled by two factors that separate during

D. Only one of the two factors that control a trait is expressed when
both types of factors are present.

Answers

The answer d rather than both alleles contributing to a phenotype.the dominant will be expressed exclusively

Only one of the two factors that control a trait is expressed when both types of factors are present best describes Mendel's law of dominance. Thus option D is correct.

what is Mendel's law?

According to Mendel’s Law of Dominance When an organism is mixture of  heterogeneous  trait, it expresses allele which are dominant, here the   dominant trait always masks the recessive trait.

The trait is present in the form of two allele and one allele is dominant over the other allele which is recessive.

The dominant allele contributes exclusively to the phenotype of the offspring and Dominance can also be described as when one of the two alleles is non-functional means it does not produce a functional protein.

The recessive trait will be expressed only when both the allele are present in homozygous form from both parents.

Thus option D is correct.
