When Luma blew her whistle a few minutes later, the final score was 3–2 in favor of the Seventeens. Luma waved the Fifteens over.

"Fifteens, you played a decent game," she told them. "Kanue, if I see you lose your temper again, you're off the team. They're going to foul you in a game and you'll get red-carded." Kanue shook his head in disappointment with himself. He knew he had made an error, the kind that could put the whole team in jeopardy. Coach had let him off easy with a lap.

After practice, Luma had concerns: Kanue's outburst had been troubling, and she wasn't happy that Mandela was lashing out at his new teammates when they made mistakes. But the Fifteens' effort had been impressive. They hadn't quit when they fell behind. They wanted to win.

Explanation:

In literature, alliteration is the conspicuous repetition of identical initial consonant sounds in successive or closely associated syllables within a group of words, even those spelled differently. As a method of linking words for effect, alliteration is also called head rhyme or initial rhyme. For example, "humble house," or "potential power play." A familiar example is "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers". "Alliteration" is from the Latin word littera, meaning "letter of the alphabet"; it was first coined in a Latin dialogue by the Italian humanist Giovanni Pontano in the 15th century. Alliteration is used poetically in various languages around the world, including Irish, German, Mongolian, Hungarian, American Sign Language, Somali, Finnish, Icelandic.

Which of these passages would most likely be part of an expository text?

Passage 1- What makes weather? Earth's temperature is partly responsible. Water vapor in the air moves from one place to another depending on temperature. Warm air rises, and cold air sinks. As the warm air around the equator rises, it moves toward the poles and is cooled. The cold air around the poles also moves toward the equator. While this is happening, Earth is spinning. The spin of the planet is called its rotation. The rotation of Earth is also important to weather. As Earth spins, the sun can warm only part of it at any one time. The other part faces away from the sun. It is cooler. As a result, the rotation of Earth creates constantly changing temperatures.
Passage 2- My plan is to refurbish cars and then turn around and sell them to people. There are a million cars that are dumped at wreckage lots, and I can use the money I get from my summer job to buy a car and the parts I need for it. Junkyards are a gold mine for parts, and they are cheap there. I can spend my free time putting the cars back together, and then I can sell the car to someone for a lot more than it cost me to fix it. I first learned how to work on cars years ago with training from my uncle. He was an expert mechanic on his farm back in the 1930s. Learning from him was one of the most beneficial and interesting experiences I had while living in California.

Passage 4- Until this moment, I had looked upon the valley as my grave. I had seen no possibility of getting out of it alive. But now I found courage and began to plan my escape. First, I picked up all the large diamonds I could find and stored them in my leather bag. This I tied securely to my belt. I then chose the piece of meat that seemed best for my purpose. With my turban I tied meat firmly to my back. This done, I laid face down and awaited the coming of the eagles. I soon heard the flapping of their mighty wings above me. Then I had the joy of feeling one of them seize my piece of meat, and me with it. We rose slowly toward its nest, into which it dropped me. (from One Thousand and One Nights)

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

PART B: What does this evolution in how we understand the identities of Superman suggest about how society’s view of identity changed over time?

COMMONLIT article: superman's secret identity

please helppp

Answers

Answer:

The evolution of how we understand the identities of Superman suggests that society's view of identity is subjective, the society takes identity at face value regardless of other evidences.

Explanation:

Superman's secret identity and its evolution suggests how the society really views the question of identity.

So even though Clark Kent bears a striking resemblance to Superman the two identities are not seen as even remotely interchangeable, because no one has any reason to believe Superman has a secret identity (he wears no mask), and Clark Kent carries himself differently in every way.

So, people see and accept what they want and ignore any anomaly. You can present yourself as one thing and yet appear as an entirely different thing, and no one will question it.

After all we all see people who resemble someone else, but whom we otherwise see in entirely different situations so therefore we have no reason to think they might be the same person living two different lives.

The evolution simply implies that society's view of an identity is subjective.

It should be noted that the evolution of how we understand the identities of Superman infers that the view of the identity of a society is subjective.

The subjectivity simply entails that the society takes identity at face value regardless of other evidences. Superman's secret identity and its evolution suggests how the society really views the question of identity. It illustrates that people see and accept what they want and they ignore any anomaly.

Chief Joseph's Surrender Speech, October 5, 1877
by Chief Joseph

Tell General Howard I know his heart. What he told me before, I have it in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our Chiefs are killed; Looking Glass is dead, Ta Hool Hool Shute is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes or no. He who led on the young men is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets; the little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are—perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my Chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.

He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?

Explain your own interpretation of the poem "Jabberwocky." What is the story that the poem is telling, in your own words?

Answer in 2-3 complete sentences. Use evidence from the poem in your answer.

Answers

In the first stanza of 'Jabberwocky' Carroll jumps right into the text using strange and nonsensical words. He describes the scene as “brillig” and filled with “slithy toves”. ... This word could reference a creature or some kind of plant. It sounds similar to another word “grove,” such as a grove of trees. All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. Consider Carroll's use of (invented) words in this stanza. ... Carroll is using both 'slithy' and 'mimsy' as portmanteau words: slithy, for example, is a blend of slimy + lithe, while mimsy suggests miserable + flimsy. In "Jabberwocky," Carroll uses nonsensical words throughout a typical ballad form to tell a tale of good versus evil, which culminates in the killing of the fearsome Jabberwock. “Brillig”: four o'clock in the afternoon — the time when you begin broiling things for dinner. “Slithy”: lithe and slimy. ' Lithe' is the same as 'active'. “Toves”: curious creatures that are something like badgers, something like lizards, and something like corkscrews.

plzzzzzz help me write a one-paragraph summary in the text box that follows the article.

Some scientists gaze into outer space to look for answers. Some scientists seek answers in the depths of the sea. When Georg Steinhauser wanted answers, he looked within himself. Well, he looked within his bellybutton to be exact. The Austrian chemist spent three years researching the contents of his navel and the navels of others. He has solved one of life's greatest mysteries. We now know exactly what bellybutton lint contains!

Steinhauser presented his findings in the online version of the journal Medical Hypotheses. The Vienna University scientist analyzed over 500 samples to determine the exact makeup of the lint. As suspected, most of the lint was made up of cotton from clothing. The fabric pieces are not alone, though. Steinhauser found that the average bellybutton also contained pieces of dead skin, sweat, dust, and fat.

Steinhauser's notes also explained how lint accumulates. Stomach hairs tend to grow in a circular pattern around the bellybutton. The hairs act like small hooks, capturing and holding contents within. Shaving stomach hair can lead to a lint-free bellybutton, but don't act too hastily. Although the contents of your navel may be a nuisance, research suggests that lint has a purpose. It is nature's way of protecting your bellybutton from germs and unwanted objects. (20 points)
