How many electrons are shared between one nitrogen atom and one carbon atom? two three six seven

Answers

Answer 1

the nitrogen and the carbon are sharing six electrons! A single bond is created when two atoms share two electrons. If they share four, their bond is doubled. These two are actually sharing a six, which is a triple bond.

How many electrons does the carbon atom share?

By sharing four pairs of electrons through the formation of four covalent bonds, carbon fills its outer energy level and achieves stability.

How many electrons do nitrogen atoms share?

Only the nitrogen atoms' valence shells are taken into account while thinking about the bonding in a nitrogen molecule. Eight electrons can fit in total in nitrogen's outer shell. Therefore, the nitrogen atoms share three electrons each in order to produce the most stable structure.

What holds carbon and nitrogen together?

One of the most frequent bonds in organic chemistry and biochemistry is the covalent bond between carbon and nitrogen. With five valence electrons, nitrogen is trivalent in simple amines, with the two extra electrons forming a lone pair.

a) How many moles of sugar are there in the pop (3 marks)?

b) If a mole of sugar costs 90 cents, what is the value of the sugar in a can of pop (3 marks)?

c) How many particles of sugar are there in the pop (3 marks)?

Answers

The number of sugar particles is 7.4 * 10^22 particles.

What is the mole?

The mole is used to describe the amount of substance. The idea was first introduced by Professor Avogadro and the number of particles that constitute one mole of a substance was said to be 6.02 * 10^23 particles in a mole.

Thus;

Molar mass of sugar = 342 g/mol

Number of moles of sugar = 42 grams/342 g/mol = 0.123 moles

Now;

If 1 mole of sugar costs 90 cents

0.123 moles of sugar costs 0.123 moles *  90 cents/1 mole

= 11 cents

Now we know that;

1 mole of sugar contains  6.02 * 10^23 particles

0.123 moles of sugar contains 0.123 moles *  6.02 * 10^23 particles / 1 mole

= 7.4 * 10^22 particles

Answers

The volume is the product of the molar concentration and the moles of the substance. The volume of hydrochloric acid that can be added to the buffer is 0.066 L.

What is a buffer?

A buffer is a constant solution with a proton or hydrogen ion concentration with an acid, base, or salt dissolved in them.

The chemical reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium acetate is given as,

HCl + CH₃Coo-Na → CH₃CooH + NaCl

From above the initials moles of acetic acid are given as,

Moles = molarity × volume

= 0.139 M × 0.0346 L

=  0.0048 moles

The initials moles of sodium acetate are given as,

M = 0.182 M × 0.0365 L

= 0.0066 moles

As it is known that the ratio of the buffer capacity is 10 for sodium acetate and acetic acid so,

Moles sodium acetate ÷ Moles Acetic acid = 10

(0.0066 moles + X) ÷ (0.0048 moles - X)  = 10

Here, X is the moles of HCl and is calculated as,

0.0066 moles + X = 0.048 moles - 10X

11 X = 0.048 ÷ 0.0066

11 X = 7.27

X = 0.66 moles

The volume of 0.100 HCl with 0.66 moles is:

Volume = moles × molarity

Elements belonging to the same group have same number of valence electrons because in a group in every successive element a new shell is added,valence electrons present in which remain the same and hence their properties are similar.

As the elements are arranged in a way such that their properties are repeated at regular intervals,elements in a period have different properties which repeat across the next period.

Rutherford gold-foil experiment
In 1909 Rutherford disproved Sir J.J. Thomson's model of the atom as a uniformly distributed substance. Because only very few of the alpha particles in his beam were scattered by large angles after striking the gold foil while most passed completely through, Rutherford knew that the gold atom's mass must be concentrated in a tiny dense nucleus.
Most alpha particles passed straight through the gold foil, which implied that atoms are mostly composed of open space. Some alpha particles were deflected slightly, suggesting interactions with other positively charged particles within the atom. Still other alpha particles were scattered at large angles, while a very few even bounced back toward the source. (Rutherford famously said later, “It was almost as incredible as if you fired a 15-inch shell at a piece of tissue paper and it came back and hit you.”) Only a positively charged and relatively heavy target particle, such as the proposed nucleus, could account for such strong repulsion. The negative electrons that balanced electrically the positive nuclear charge were regarded as traveling in circular orbits about the nucleus. The electrostatic force of attraction between electrons and nucleus was likened to the gravitational force of attraction between the revolving planets and the Sun. Most of this planetary atom was open space and offered no resistance to the passage of the alpha particles.

What volume (ml) of fluorine gas is required to react with 1. 28 g of calcium bromide to form calcium fluoride and bromine gas at stp?

Answers

144 mL of fluorine gas is required to react with 1.28 g of calcium bromide to form calcium fluoride and bromine gas at STP.

What is Ideal Gas Law ?

The ideal gas law states that the pressure of gas is directly proportional to the volume and temperature of the gas.

PV = nRT

where,

P = Presure

V = Volume in liters

n = number of moles of gas

R = Ideal gas constant

T = temperature in Kelvin

Here,

P = 1 atm  [At STP]

R = 0.0821 atm.L/mol.K

T = 273 K  [At STP]

Now first find the number of moles

F₂  +  CaBr₂  →  CaF₂  +  Br₂

Here 1 mole of F₂ reacts with 1 mole of CaBr₂.

So,  199.89 g CaBr₂ reacts with  = 1 mole of F₂

1.28 g of CaBr₂ will react with = n mole of F₂

[tex]n = \frac{1.28\g \times 1\ \text{mole}}{199.89\ g}[/tex]

n = 0.0064 mole

Now put the value in above equation we get

PV = nRT

1 atm × V = 0.0064 × 0.0821 atm.L/mol.K × 273 K

V = 0.1434 L

V ≈ 144 mL

Thus from the above conclusion we can say that 144 mL of fluorine gas is required to react with 1.28 g of calcium bromide to form calcium fluoride and bromine gas at STP.

A 0. 150 amp current is run through a solution of ni2 ions for 12. 2 hours. what mass of metal is deposited on the cathode?

Answers

The mass of nickel metal deposited on the cathode is 2.004 g.

What is electrolysis?

When an ionic compound is decomposed into its elements by passing a direct electric current using a compound in its liquid form. The process is known as electrolysis.

At the cathode, cations are reduced and at the anode, anions are oxidized.

The main components used in the process of electrolysis are

electrolyte, electrodes,external power source

Current passed through the solution, I = 0.150 A

Time, t = 12.2 hrs = 12.2×60×60 = 43920 sec

Charge, q = It = 0.150 × 43920 = 6588 C

At cathode,

[tex]Ni^{2+}(aq) + 2e^- \rightarrow Ni(s)[/tex]

Nickel metal deposited by (2×96487 C) = 58.7g

Nickel metal deposited by 6588 C = [tex]\frac{58.7 \times 6588 }{2\times96487}[/tex] = 2.004 g

Hence, The mass of nickel metal deposited on the cathode is 2.004 g.

279 kg of gold. if the gold was applied to a thickness of
0.0015 mm, what surface area is covered in square
meters)? (gold density = 19.3 g/cm)

Answers

0.014559 g/cm³ is the surface area that covered in square.

Definition of surface area -

To recall, the surface area of an object is the total area of the outside surfaces of the three-dimensional object i.e, the total sum of the area of the faces of the object. It is measured in terms of square units. The amount of area covered by the surface of something. The lake has roughly the same surface area as 10 football fields.

The surface area is calculated as -

Conversion of units -

[tex]26 m * \frac{100 cm}{1 m} = 2600 cm[/tex]

[tex]279 kg * \frac{1g}{1000 kg} = 0.279 g[/tex]

[tex]0.0015 mm * \frac{0.1 cm}{1mm} = 0.00015 cm[/tex]

Now we use formula for volume -

      [tex]Volume = \frac{mass}{density}[/tex]

                   [tex]= \frac{0.279 g}{19.3 g/ cm^{3} }[/tex]

                  = 0.014559 g/cm³
