Compare and contrast The Rainy Day by Henry Longfellow and Invictus by William Henry.
If we're comparing the two, we may start by noting that they both feature darkness and take place at night. By isolating the reader from social life in a way that you read, they compare.
What is The Rainy Day about? He displays a yearning for the past, his youth, and possibly the dreams he had at that time. He addresses his heart directly in the final verse, imploring it to calm down and accept what is happening.
There will always be days when things seem more hopeless; that is just a fact of life.
Rain falls, but the wind never grows tired; The vine still clings to the crumbling wall, but dead leaves fall with every gust. And it's a gloomy, dark day.
The similarities between the two can be seen by noticing that they both involve darkness and occur at night. They compare by isolating the reader from social life in the same way that you read.
Thus, this is the comparison between the two.

B. correct and meets the stated goal
C. incorrect because it is not joined correctly
Answer:
B.
Explanation: The two sentences are related to eachother and it does not sound wordy a bit. If the two sentences have nothing to do with each other, it would've been incorrect.
"We cannot see the parade from our house because our house has too many tall trees around it."
This result is "correct and meets the stated goal".
What is compound sentence ?When we join two clauses together to form a complicated statement in English, we refer to this as a compound sentence.
We can look at how to create one to address the question, "What is a compound sentence?" Two independent clauses—clauses that stand alone and make sense—make form a compound sentence, which will have a coordinating conjunction connecting them.
A compound sentence is typically used to combine two related sentences into a single notion. Compound sentences can be used to help the writer connect difficult concepts and improve the flow of their writing.
"This house is too pricey, and that house is too little," is an illustration of a compound statement. The independent clauses "This house is too pricey" and "that house is too short" are split by a comma and the conjunction "and," making this sentence a compound sentence.
Hence, This result is "correct and meets the stated goal", so option B is the correct answer.

Answer:
Imagine walking outside and discovering your pristine neighborhood being ripped to shreds. Tree branches scattered in the roads, shingles hanging loosely from your roof, and your car's paint melted off. Would you ever guess that this destruction could be caused by a small group of birds? Vultures have been proven to be important to our ecosystem, but when they are found in neighborhoods they can cause massive problems that can only be solved by removing them.
In recent years, vultures have been detected roosting where they should not be. People have reported sightings of vultures nesting in neighborhoods. Previously, vultures had been known to roost on the side of a cliff, or in large trees. According to Compton’s by Britannica, "Old World vultures build large stick platform nests in trees or on cliffs, sometimes in large colonies.” So as you can see, when people found vultures roosting in neighborhoods, it was quite a shock. “At first, they were just a disturbing sight, but as the days passed, they became aware of the damage the birds were inflicting,” writes the author M.E. White in his article Vultures Make Life Difficult. And now a similar scenario has happened in a town in Northwest Roanoke. Vultures have created nests and roosting sites and have begun causing many dilemmas in this small town. Vultures may be important to our ecosystem, but they are not a natural part of the environment in these neighborhoods!
This vulture predicament has affected all of the people in these neighborhoods. Surprisingly, the biggest problem that these vultures are creating is NOT eating the dead animals but instead eating caulk on houses, rubber tires, and practically anything soft. On several occasions, the birds have been seen to leave feces on cars. Since the droppings are so acidic they have been known to melt the paint! “...the feces they leave behind have been a nuisance to homeowners for years,” states the Roanoke Times. In fact, the melted paint on cars is probably the least of their worries. Now that vultures have been roosting in smaller trees that aren’t adapted to hold such weight, trees branches have broken. Since such large pieces of the tree are being ripped off, some of the trees have even died. The pests have also been seen eating the shingles right off the house! Carol Bannerman admits that “vultures will start to pick at anything that's rubber or soft.” So it’s not surprising that other things such as rubber tires, weatherstripping, and caulk have been eaten by the birds. All things considered, these pests have created big problems that have influenced all of the people living in these communities.
In the long run, it would troublesome to have the vultures continue to live in these neighborhoods, so the town must scare away the vultures and take precautions so they cannot return. In Roanoke, officers made a last-ditch effort to remove the vultures from the town. Roanoke Times writes, “Bedford Police Chief Milton Graham said animal control officers have killed a handful of vultures in recent years to try to get them to disperse.” But usually, to remove the birds they must shoot cannons that make a lot of sounds. According to Vultures Make Life Difficult, “They shot the pyrotechnic bullets in the air and the noise and lights made the vultures fly away and stay away. It is the best way to get rid of vultures once they've settled in the trees.“ Once the vultures are gone, officers must set up precautionary measures so that the birds cannot return. In the past, they have placed wires on top of roofs so that the birds can’t land on the roofs and inflict further damage. People also have protected the trees. “One thing residents can do is to spray water up into the trees. Keeping the area constantly wet will keep the vultures from roosting,” states M.E. White. Although vultures are necessary, officers must scare the vultures away from the neighborhoods so that the town stays safe.
As you can see, these vultures have created numerous problems that will be hard but not impossible to solve. These vultures must be removed, or many neighborhoods in Northwest Roanoke will be damaged beyond repair. Towns may be permanently ruined, and homes will be destroyed. Although this task may seem insurmountable, the United States will be able to fend off these birds so that neighborhoods will be vulture-free once more.

which of the following best states the irony of the cemeteries ownership situation
-----answer:
emeteries exist in the darkest corners of a bureaucratic system that keeps an eye on every regulated trade in Pennsylvania from car dealers to massage therapists.
People burying loved ones in the Keystone State write checks for thousands of dollars and sign agreements that promise they are buying something most businesses wouldn’t offer — a guarantee that a grave will be taken care of forever.
“Every cemetery company shall set aside annually and deposit into a permanent lot care fund a sum equal to at least 15% of the gross amount of the funds ... .”
— Pennsylvania statute Title 9, Chapter 3, Section 303
But cemeteries regularly fail and owners walk away, facing few apparent consequences while the burden of that perpetual care may end up falling on taxpayers and the communities where acres of land can become an eyesore.
Pennsylvania has a patchwork of laws that may give a false sense of security to consumers. There are no state workers directly assigned to monitor the financial health of cemeteries or to identify operators not obeying the rules for setting aside a perpetual care fund.
State statutes requiring cemeteries to set aside 15% of the sales of each grave plot for perpetual care don’t even apply to the majority of cemeteries — those owned by churches, religious organizations, fraternal organizations and families.
State officials don’t know exactly how many graveyards exist, although the Allegheny County Funeral Director’s Association estimates there are about 1,000 privately owned and religious cemeteries in the 11-county region around Pittsburgh.
Funeral director Frank Perman, a member of the organization and owner of Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Shaler, estimates there could be as many as 6,000 graveyards across the state.
The best guess is that 80% to 85% of all cemeteries are exempt from state oversight, with the remaining 15% to 20% falling under any Pennsylvania review.
For the most part, these silent cities of the dead have fallen through the cracks, buried and forgotten.

THIS IS ABOUT THE MASQUE OF RED DEATH
Answer:
When we read the description of the prince's palace, we can see that it is grand and imposing, but with totally unpredictable paths, where someone could easily get lost. In addition, the castle has a variety of colors, from bedrooms, living rooms, among other surprises. This can be seen as an allegory for life because, like the castle, life is something imposing, but full of surprises and we never know what the end of the path we will reach will be.
Explanation:
In literature, allegory is a figure of speech, which allows a word, or an element of the text, to abandon its literal and denotative meaning and takes on another meaning, in a subjunctive, connotative and referential way. In other words, we can say that the allegory exhibits a plurality of meanings in a lesser element, therefore being a generator of plurisignification.
This makes the text deeper and less literal.
Read the excerpt from Act II of Hamlet. Hamlet: Slanders, sir: for the satirical rogue says here that old men have grey beards, that their faces are wrinkled, their eyes purging thick amber and plum-tree gum, and that they have a plentiful lack of wit, together with most weak hams: all which, sir, though I most powerfully and potently believe, yet I hold it not honesty to have it thus set down; for you yourself, sir, should be old as I am, if, like a crab, you could go backward. Which is a metaphor
Answer:
"their eyes purging thick amber and plum-tree gum".
Explanation:
A metaphor is the figurative language technique of comparing things without the use of "like" or "as" in a sentence. It compares two things that may not be alike but have some sort of similarity between them.
In the given excerpt from Act 2 scene ii of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet", the protagonist Hamlet uses a metaphor while talking about the words of the writer of the book he was reading. The writer of the book says that the eyes of old men "purg[e] thick amber and plum-tree gum". This metaphorically states the eyes of old men who are filled with gunk and have wrinkled faces.
Thus, the metaphor in the given excerpt is "their eyes purging thick amber and plum-tree gum".
