Read the two example paragraphs below that demonstrate this activity.
Topic: Cars
Modes: analysis, cause and effect
Analysis Paragraph:
A car is an easy topic to analyze because it can be discussed in its various parts. The engine gives power to
the car, and though there are different types of engines, that is not the focus of this analysis essay. The body
of the car is the next part we can analyze. Most cars have comfortable seating for passengers with varying
amounts of leg room. The next part of a car would be its trunk, or the "boot," as the British call it. Here is
where passengers and drivers alike can store their luggage. However, most cars would be of no use at all if
they did not have tires. They keep the body and the engine off the road and make sure everyone has a
comfortable ride.
Compare/Contrast Paragraph:
Comparing and contrasting cars is an easy task. There is little comparison between a family van and a Ferrari.
The van has plenty of room to seat passengers comfortably, whereas the Ferrari only has room for the driver
and one passenger. Most family vans have plenty of room for luggage; on the other hand, one would be lucky
to get a large purse in a Ferrari. How about appearance? Which one of these vehicles would look better?
Well, even though the family van is infinitely more comfortable than the Ferrari, nothing can compare to the
smooth, sleek silhouette of the Ferrari. In this comparison, the fancy sports car wins. I suppose, in the end, it
all depends on who is driving and what his or her needs are. The different cars certainly contrast with each
other in purpose and style.

What is a Semicolon?

The semicolon, often known as a semicolon, is a punctuation mark that is frequently used in writing. The most frequent usage of a semicolon in the English language is to connect two separate sentences with similar ideas. The concepts are assigned equal rank when a semicolon separates two or more ideas in a statement.

The semicolon (;) serves two purposes in punctuation. Items in a long list are separated by semicolons. The Council, for instance, has 10 members, including three from Sydney, Australia, four from Auckland, New Zealand, two from Suva, Fiji, and one from Honiara, the Solomon Islands.

To join similar independent clauses, use a semicolon. A phrase that conveys a full idea and makes sense on its own is referred to as an independent clause. With a conjunctive adverb or transitional phrase, use a semicolon. To divide things into a list, use semicolons.

story? Cite evidence from the text to support your answer.

Answers

The motto and coat of arms symbolize the Montresor's family's desire for revenge. The foot crushing the serpent represents the Montresor's desire to crush his enemies. The motto "Nemo me impune lacessit" means "No one attacks me with impunity." This is significant because the Montresor feels that Fortunato has attacked him, and he wants to take revenge.

Montresor's:
When Fortunato remarks on the size of the catacombs, Montresor hints that all the bodies in the place are dead Montresor family members. There appear to be a lot of them. We don't know Montresor's name yet, but it's hinted that he's a member of their family. Montresor could not be Montresor at all. Perhaps he slaughtered the last Montresors and then stole their name to utilise for his evil goals. In paragraph five, Montresor, if that is his real name, states unequivocally that he is not Italian (though where he comes from is never revealed).

The motto "Nemo me impune lacessit" symbolizes the events of the story because it means "No one attacks me with impunity." CLIMATE CHANGE

FACTORY FARMING INTENSIFIES CLIMATE CHANGE, RELEASING VAST VOLUMES OF GREENHOUSE GASES.

Oil Mining

Factory farming fuels climate change, releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide and methane.

We now know that artificial climate change is accurate and poses a significant threat to the planet and its inhabitants. Current data suggest that we need to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions in developed countries by at least 80% by 2050 to stay below an average temperature rise of over 2ºC 1. Factory farming significantly contributes to climate change, releasing vast amounts of greenhouse gases.

Factory farming produces greenhouse gases throughout the 'supply chain.' For example, forest clearance to grow crops and rear the animals reduces vital carbon 'sinks' and releases gases previously stored in the soil and vegetation.

Factory farming also requires large amounts of energy to function. This isn't just to rear the animals but also to grow the vast amounts of feed they need. According to a study published by The Royal Society 2, feed is the dominant energy user, taking around 75% of the total energy required. The rest is needed for heating, lighting, and ventilation.

It's not just carbon dioxide that's the problem: gases, including methane and nitrous oxide, also produced in significant quantities, are released through various sources, including animal waste and fertilizer use. Both gases are much more potent than carbon dioxide. Both gases are much more potent than carbon dioxide. Livestock farming has 37% and 65% of our global methane and nitrous oxide emissions, respectively 3.

Climate change is already harming food production four, and these impacts are projected to increase over time, with potentially devastating effects. Higher temperatures, for example, could place further stress on water-scarce regions and make it harder to rear animals and grow food crops. According to the Convention on Biological Diversity, 5, climate change may affect plant growth and production by promoting the spread of pests and diseases, increasing exposure to heat stress, and encouraging soil erosion due to stronger winds.

Factory-farmed beef requires twice as much fossil fuel energy input as pasture-reared beef.

Added heat stress, shifting monsoons, and drier soils may reduce yields by as much as a third in the tropics and subtropics, where crops are already near their maximum heat tolerance.

Factory farming intensifies climate change. By taking action against factory farming, we are not just creating a food and farming revolution but also tackling one of the world's most significant sustainability challenges.

The contaminating of water bodies, typically as a result of human activity, so that it adversely affects their uses is known as water pollution (or aquatic pollution).

There are two types of sources of water pollution: point sources and non-point sources. Point sources, such as a storm drain, a wastewater treatment facility, or an oil spill, have a single, distinguishable cause. More widespread non-point sources include agricultural runoff.

The cumulative effect over time leads to pollution. Oil, metals, plastics, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, industrial waste products, changes in salinity, changes in pH, elevated temperatures, excessive turbidity, disagreeable tastes or odors, and pathogenic organisms are just a few examples of harmful chemicals that can cause pollution. Both organic and inorganic compounds might be contaminants. Thermal pollution is the term for when heat acts as a pollutant. The use of water as a coolant by industrial enterprises and power plants is a frequent contributor to thermal pollution.

Legislation, the right infrastructure, management strategies, and management plans are all necessary to control water pollution. Improved sanitation, sewage treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, agricultural wastewater treatment, erosion control, sediment control, and urban runoff control are some examples of technological solutions (including stormwater management). In order to effectively control urban runoff, flow quantity and speed must be decreased.

Answers

We can see that David McCullough Jr. supports the notion that adulthood differs from youth due to the passage of time through these statements.

In his speech, David McCullough Jr. used the phrase "you are not special" to demonstrate to his students of Wellesley High School that maturity will not treat them with the same respect that their families do for each member.

Although the general public has been pampered, shielded, and treated as if they were unique and special by their families, David McCullough Jr. meant that they are just ordinary people and adulthood will not treat them special but will instead present them with difficulties and challenges that are frequently insurmountable.

The lyrics from Miley Cyrus' song "The Climb," which go, "There's always going to be another mountain/I'm always going to want to make it move/Always going to make it move be an uphill battle/Sometimes I'm going to have to lose," are comparable to how David McCullough Jr. describes the challenges of adult life.

While this may seem demoralising, David McCullough Jr. demonstrates that this is actually what will educate students how to live, create experiences that will enable them to discover their true selves, grasp their limitations, and know that they are not unique and must struggle to survive.

The lyrics of "Fifteen, there's still time for you/Time to purchase and time to lose yourself" from "Five for Fighting's" song "100 Years" are comparable to how David McCullough Jr. emphasises that adolescence is a time of exceptional protection for students.
