What is world environment day?
World Environment Day (WED) is observed annually on June 5th and is the primary platform for the United Nations to promote environmental awareness and action. It has provided a venue for raising awareness on environmental concerns such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development, and wildlife crime since its inception in 1973. World Environment Day is a global venue for public outreach, with over 143 countries participating each year. Every year, the programme provides a theme and a place for corporations, non-profit organisations, towns, governments, and celebrities to advocate for environmental problems.
