According to step one, the movie selected for analysis of the concept of interpersonal communication is: The Blind Side
What is the general overview of the film? The protagonist or lead character in the movie is an underprivileged African-American youngster who is adopted by a white family out of compassion.
The teenager's struggles are the subject of one section of the novel, while his development and his role in the football game are the subject of the other section.
The movie The Blind Side is a great example of interpersonal communication principles. The movie, which is based on real incidents and occasions, examines the obstacles people have to overcome to achieve in life.
The sequence where Michael Oher returns to Memphis and encounters a completely different environment forces him to interact in cross-cultural communication.
listening;perceptual accentuation;feedback, and nonverbal clues, are the focal point of the theoretical understanding illustrated in the movie.
Which character in this film do you think is the most competent communicator based on the traits we discussed? Why?The character that is most competent in the above movie as already hinted is Michael Oher. This is because he is able to navigate the challenges associated with interpersonal communication in a multicultural situation.
What are some of the culture and gender differences that effect interpersonal communication in the movie? In the movie, the leaning on gender differences is not really emphasized. However there is a strong play when it comes to cultural differences.
For example, Michael is first assumed to not fit in with the family due of his differences (he is black and the family is white).
Even while the connection does not seem promising at first, after Michael has lived with the family for a long, everyone learns to deal with each other's growing relationships.
How does the main character’s perceptions likely affect their relationships? How does your own perception influences the way you view the movie? The Uncertainty Reduction Theory (URT) is well demonstrated in the movie, where uncertainties complicated the start of the connections and relationships.
People may therefore lessen the ambiguity in relationships via knowledge and understanding. This is what happens exactly in the movie. The above is also apparent to those who watch the movie.
What are least 3 examples of language use in the movie between some of the main characters? One example of when suggestive language is used in the movie is when their language begins to suggest the growing intimacy between members of the family.
Example:
Michael being more vulnerable says to his new family "It's nice, I never had one before”
Collins Tuohy on the other hand soon starts to refer to Michael as "brother".
The other example is captured when Sean Junior tell Michael that he has to be of good behavior around the ladies.
What is an example of non-verbal communication in the movie? In this particular movie, the form of communication that holds the center stage is non-verbal communication.
A great illustration is when, before to the collision, Michael motions to Sean Junior with his hand and eyes, pleading with the mother to let him use the automobile.
How does listening impact the way the characters in the movie relate to one another? The idea of listening is clearly present throughout the movie.
Interpersonal connections rely heavily on listening, which is the capacity to effectively hear and evaluate signals during communication.
This is well seen in the movie when Ann and Michael's history teacher, Miss Sue, pay attention to them, which enhances Michael's performance.
How do the main characters portray their emotions? The entire theme of the move is not just about the underprivileged African- American boy who finds companionship in an all white family, it is also about how the white family is able to demonstrate love and compassion by accommodating Michael and taking him as family.
The emotions are thus portrayed verbally and non-verbally.
Which examples show how conflict and/or power were displayed in the movie? When Ann adopts a black adolescent (that is Michael), and initially refers to him as her son, her friends criticize her, illustrating the main conflict.
Ann tells her friends that the youngster needs family, and Michael is driven to succeed despite life's obstacles. Ann and Michael both want to improve the boy's position.
What is an example of a supportive communication climate in the film?An example of a supportive climate is when Collins calls him Michael brother and Ann refers to him as son.
What is an example of a defensive communication climate in the film? The best example of this is when Ann (defensively) informs her disapproving friends that Michael is determined to achieve despite hurdles in life and that the child needs family.

One of the expedients of party to acquire influence within particular districts is to misrepresent the opinions and aims of other districts. Once the largest portion of the food pyramid grains are still an important part of a healthy diet. Grains come in two forms: whole and refined. Whole grains contain the entire grain kernel, which includes the outermost layer the inner layer, and the smallest part of the grain. These are the bran, germ and endosperm. Together they make a whole grain. Whole grains, which include whole-wheat flour, whole cornmeal, oatmeal, and brown rice are great nutritional choices. D. Parents and children discussed difficult matters with the gods
Read the story: a Grecian wedding
The fact that Agatha feels she has to run away to avoid marriage reveals that parents viewed their decisions about their children's future as final, option A.
What does the text reveal? The excerpt from the text "A Grecian Wedding" revolves around Agatha's opinions and feelings concerning the common practice of arranged marriages in ancient Greece. Agatha knows her parents will soon find her a groom, so she considers running away to avoid it.
The fact that Agatha feels she has to run away reveals there is no arguing with her parents. There is no convincing them that she should not get married. In other words, parents saw their decisions about their children's future as final.
With the information above in mind, we can select option A as the correct answer for this question.
The missing text is the following:
Agatha’s sister, Demetria, was just 14 years old when her father informed her that she was to be married. This practice was not uncommon in ancient Greece. Many parents selected husbands for their teenage daughters, and grooms were often considerably older than brides. Agatha had known this day would probably come, and when it did she was anything but happy about it. Demetria was only a year older than Agatha. Demetria’s getting married meant Agatha was next in line to wed. The thought of her sister’s arranged marriage terrified Agatha—so much so that she considered running away to avoid the same fate. But Agatha also knew that this rebellious thought alone was enough to anger the gods. She was a girl, and the beliefs and customs prescribed by the gods required girls to obey their parents.

Dear Editor,
I have never taken the time to write a letter to the editor, but something happened that lit a fire in me. Last week, as my best friend Areliss and I headed to class, a group of college protesters blocked our path. Their signs read “GO HOME” and “ILLEGALS LEAVE.” They shouted, “Send them home!” These protesters couldn’t have known what Areliss felt as they shouted and waved pamphlets in our faces like tattered flags. But, I know their words were bullets to Areliss’s heart. I wanted to fire back to the protestors: Where are your ancestors from?
Areliss came to the United States illegally, but she didn’t do it intentionally. She was a baby. Her parents, seeking a better life, failed to follow the established immigration procedure, and they slipped into our country undetected. Once here, they raised Areliss, who would grow up never knowing any other home but America.
Under DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), Areliss has been granted the temporary opportunity to remain here while she completes her college education. DACA ensures, at least for a while, that she will not be deported to a country she has never visited in her entire life.
The term “DREAMers” refers to an act that would have protected these immigrant children if they attended college or served in the military. The DREAM Act did not pass, but its name has remained. DACA recipients have a dream: they dream that their lifelong contribution to the United States will one day be recognized, and they will be permitted to stay in the country they have always called home.
Now, DACA is ending. Those who oppose DACA say it encourages illegal activity, weakens our borders, and goes against the Constitution. I understand their concerns. In an era of heightened security, we must do our utmost to keep this great nation safe. That includes establishing a healthy monitoring system for immigration.
But, those who oppose DACA, who wield protest signs and who want to build walls, have never felt the dreaded doom of deportation. They forget that our long and colorful history has been built by many immigrants—including the immigrants who fought for and founded our country. They forget that Lady Liberty stands as a beacon, asking for the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. We have a responsibility to them.
To send DREAMers away is to deny that responsibility. Programs like DACA exist to keep the American dream alive.
Yes, Areliss is a DREAMer. But I, too, have a dream. My dream is that DACA will be reinstated. My dream is that Areliss will be invited to stay in the country she has known as home since she was a baby and live out her dreams in the country she loves.
Sincerely,
Brittany Taylor

Voluntourism: An Opportunity Too Good to be True
A Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High
[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.
[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist...encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."
[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.
[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).
[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.
[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed-at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation.
How does the speaker's rhetorical question in paragraph 2 support the purpose of the speech?
It emphasizes the need for willing and wealthy volunteers to bring help to those less fortunate.
It highlights how unfair life can be for certain groups of people throughout the world.
It reinforces the idea that voluntourism can harm the people and communities it is meant to help.
It reminds the audience that there are some who fight the injustice associated with voluntourism.
The inference is that the speaker's rhetorical question in paragraph 2 supports the purpose of the speech as C. It reinforces the idea that voluntourism can harm the people and communities it is meant to help.
What is an inference? It should be noted that the inference simply means the conclusion that can be deduced based on the information that is given by the author in a story.
In the story, most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time.
It was important to reinforce the idea that voluntourism can harm the people and communities it is meant to help. This illustrated the use of the rhetorical questions.
In conclusion, the correct option is C.

theme of how to build a fire
London employs irony to emphasize and further illustrate his existential topic. The man goes across the dangerous terrain of the Yukon with "keenly watchful" attention (120). Ironically, the guy "falls through the ice" at a place where there are no "treacherous signs," despite the fact that he is continuously on the lookout for clues to the hidden dangers he desires to avoid (Perry 227). After meticulously lighting a fire, the guy learns even more about the arbitrary and uncaring character of the cosmos when the fire is hilariously extinguished by snow falling just as he is ready to start defrosting his frozen feet. Even with all of his knowledge, King Hendricks finds it ironic that "[the man] is still a helpless prey to natural powers and natural forces" (22). Further pointing out the irony, Hendricks writes, "the dog, surviving just by instinct, without mittens, without earflaps, without a coat, without lunch, and without a fire, survived himself while the man could not survive in the Artic [sic] temperature of 75 degrees below zero" (22). The reader must not be misled by the dog's presence as the man's traveling companion in order to maintain the existential theme of man being alone in an indifferent universe; instead, the reader must recognize the dog for what it truly is—another manifestation of the environment's apathy and indifference. The dog cannot be viewed as a kin who shares the protagonist's lonely, miserable existence since it is not a sentient entity like man and hence cannot be considered a kindred spirit. London draws the reader's attention to the merciless indifference of nature and, in turn, the existential topic of man living alone in an unpredictable and destructive environment by adding irony to the story's key elements.

it takes a lot of courage for Jordan to stand up and say what really happened during the altercation between drew and Andy in the cafeteria why do you think Jordan saying something made the others step up to report the truth
It can be inferred that Jordan saying something made the others step up to report the truth because it is very difficult to for people to stand up to them self where racisms is involved.
Hence, his outspokenness, gave other courage to speak the truth. This is culled from "The New Kid".
What is the Novel "New Kid" about?Jordan Banks, a seventh-grader, enjoys nothing more than sketching cartoons about his life.
Instead of sending him to his ideal art school, his parents enroll him in a prominent private school famed for its academics, where Jordan is one of the few students of color in his whole grade.
This book depicts daily prejudice in a realistic manner that middle school students will want to discuss.
Racism is not aggressive or overt; it is insidious and covert. So subtle that the professors don't even aware they're misreferring to African-American children.
