Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

1. Never underestimate ‘fringe’ political voices. 2.Don’t assume that ‘extreme’ politicians do not mean every word they say. 3. Be aware that hatred of minorities can make very popular policy. 4.  Remember that terrible crimes are often committed in small steps. 5.  Don’t assume you can predict your own behavior in adversity.

Explanation:

The first insight can be deduced from two statistics. In 1928, after Adolf Hitler had been leader of the Nazis for seven years, the Nazis received just 2.6% of the vote in the German General Election. Many people dismissed the Nazis as a political force – they thought they were a collection of fanatics on the fringe of German politics, almost a joke. But just four years later, at the General Election of 1932, the Nazis were the biggest single political party in Germany with 37% of the vote, and in January 1933 Hitler became Chancellor. While Hitler did not possess a blueprint for the Holocaust at this time, his feelings about the Jews were obvious. It was clear that, were he ever to gain power, the Jews were going to suffer in one way or another. But there was a tendency in some quarters to play down the radical nature of Hitler’s views. Here, for instance, is what the German banker, Johannes Zahn, told us about his own attitude in the 1930s: "If you take Christianity, for example, the demands of the Bible, the demands of the catechisms, do you know anybody who fulfills the demands of Christianity 100 per cent, or even pretends to fulfill them 100 per cent? And one thought the same way about Mein Kampf - these are demands, these are ideas, but nobody thought that they were to be taken literally." Erna Krantz, another German who was a schoolgirl in Munich around the same time, remembered that "it was somewhat contagious. You used to say that if you tell a young person every day, ‘You are something special,’ then in the end they will believe you."  Whatever the reason, there is a desire amongst many people, I believe, to think that there must have been a detailed blueprint for the Holocaust. The reality, however, was very different. While Hitler expressed hatred for the Jews and wanted to do something about what he saw as the ‘Jewish problem’ from the moment he became a politician, his ideas about just what form that ‘something’ would take changed over time. During the war, in 1940, there was even a plan to send the Jews to the island of Madagascar. While that plan would ultimately have been genocidal, it would not have led to the Holocaust as we know it. The fact is that the journey Hitler and the Nazis took to the death camps was a gradual one, full of twists and turns. Over the years many people have told me that they are certain that they know how they would have behaved had they been forced to endure Nazi persecution. They believe their characters are fixed, unlikely to change according to circumstances. When people say such things to me, I think of the interview I conducted with Toivi Blatt, a Polish Jew who, in 1943, was forced by the Nazis to work in the Sonderkommando at the death camp of Sobibor. Members of the Sonderkommando had to help the Nazis in the camp by performing tasks like cleaning out the gas chambers and sorting the belongings of the murdered Jews. Their work was the stuff of nightmares. And if the Sonderkommandos didn’t do their job to the satisfaction of the Nazis then they were immediately murdered.

what are 3 quotes from romeo and juliet at explains why friar is at fault for there death

Answer:

Here are three quotes from Romeo and Juliet that can be interpreted as suggesting that Friar Lawrence shares some responsibility for their tragic deaths:

Act 3, Scene 3, Lines 93-94: "These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder."This quote reflects the Friar's awareness of the intense passion between Romeo and Juliet. Despite his knowledge of the potential dangers, he still agrees to marry them, setting in motion a series of events that leads to their tragic fate.Act 4, Scene 1, Lines 89-91: "Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run."Friar Lawrence devises a plan for Juliet to fake her death with a sleeping potion. However, this plan ultimately backfires when Romeo, unaware of the Friar's scheme, believes Juliet is truly dead and takes his own life. The Friar's decision to manipulate such a risky plan without considering all possible consequences contributes to the tragic outcome.Act 5, Scene 3, Lines 152-155: "And here I stand, both to impeach and purge Myself condemned and myself excus'd."In the final scene, Friar Lawrence admits his responsibility for the tragic events and seeks to absolve himself of guilt. He confesses his role in the ill-fated marriage and the flawed plan, acknowledging that his actions played a part in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

These quotes highlight the Friar's involvement in the events leading to Romeo and Juliet's deaths. While other factors also contribute to the tragedy, these lines emphasize the Friar's culpability and his realization of the consequences of his actions.

Christianity proved attractive to all classes in Roman society. T or F?

The statement is True. Christianity proved attractive to all classes in Roman society. Christianity was one of several foreign cults that became established in Rome during the early imperial period.

By the end of the 1st century AD, many Romans had converted to the Eastern mystery religions, including Christianity, Mithraism, and the cult of Isis. The rise of Christianity, however, was particularly significant. Christian communities were established throughout the Roman Empire, with communities of believers in Antioch, Alexandria, and Rome forming the backbone of the new religion. The appeal of Christianity was, in part, due to the relative simplicity of its teachings. Unlike the mystery religions, Christianity did not require the initiate to undergo a complicated initiation ceremony.

Instead, it focused on the teachings of Christ and the moral code that he espoused. This made Christianity an attractive option for people of all social classes, including slaves, women, and the poor.

The noteworthy and innovative development after Wickard v. Filburn was the federal government's expanded jurisdiction to regulate intrastate activities that indirectly affect interstate trade.

Wickard v. Filburn (1942) enlarged the Commerce Clause and the federal government's jurisdiction to regulate interstate commerce. The Supreme Court found that the federal government might regulate or restrict activities that individually have little impact on interstate commerce but collectively have a large economic impact.

Ohio farmer Roscoe Filburn surpassed his government-imposed wheat allotment for personal consumption. The Court ruled that Congress could control municipal activities that indirectly affected interstate trade, even if Filburn's extra wheat production was for personal consumption.

The judgment expanded the trade Clause, giving the federal government more power to regulate activities beyond interstate trade. Wickard v. Filburn empowered Congress to control a wide range of local or isolated actions that, when combined, could impact the national economy. This broad understanding of federal power to regulate commerce has shaped state-federal relations in the US.

The message transfer model of communication portrays human communication as a XXXX process.

Answers

The message transfer model of communication portrays human communication as a linear process.

In the message transfer model of communication, the main answer to how human communication is portrayed is that it is a linear process. This means that communication is seen as a one-way flow of information from a sender to a receiver.

The sender encodes a message, which is then transmitted through a channel, such as speech or writing, and received by the receiver, who decodes the message. The model assumes that communication is successful if the intended message is accurately transmitted and understood by the receiver.

This linear perspective on communication has its roots in Shannon and Weaver's mathematical theory of communication, which focused on the efficient transmission of information. The model emphasizes the importance of clarity and accuracy in encoding and decoding messages, as any distortion or noise in the channel can lead to miscommunication.

However, this model oversimplifies the complexities of human communication. It fails to account for the dynamic and interactive nature of interpersonal communication. Human communication involves not only the transmission of information but also the interpretation and negotiation of meaning.

It is influenced by factors such as context, culture, and individual experiences, which can shape the way messages are understood and responded to.

the usual order of the development of spoken language is

Answers

The development of spoken language typically progresses from reflexive sounds to babbling, single words, two-word utterances, telegraphic speech, grammatical development, expanding vocabulary and syntax, and language refinement.

The development of spoken language is a complex and multifaceted process that has evolved over thousands of years.

While there is no universally agreed-upon "usual" order of development, researchers have proposed several stages that typically occur in the acquisition of spoken language. Here's a general overview of the stages:

Crying and Cooing: Infants begin communicating through crying and cooing sounds shortly after birth. These sounds are primarily reflexive and not intentional communication.

Babbling: Around 6 to 9 months of age, infants start babbling, producing repetitive syllables such as "ba-ba" or "ma-ma." This stage helps them explore vocalizations and develop oral motor control.

Single Words: At around 12 months, children typically produce their first recognizable words. These words are usually used holophrastically, meaning a single word conveys an entire meaning, such as saying "milk" to express the desire for a glass of milk.

Two-Word Utterances: Around 18 to 24 months, children begin combining two words to form simple phrases or utterances. For example, they might say "more milk" or "big ball" to express their needs or describe objects.

Telegraphic Speech: Between 2 and 3 years of age, children start using telegraphic speech, which includes short, simple sentences without articles or grammatical markers. They typically convey essential information, such as "Mommy go" or "Doggy run fast."

Grammatical Development: As children approach 3 to 4 years of age, their language becomes more grammatically complex. They acquire grammatical markers like plurals (-s), verb tense markers (-ed), and pronouns (he/she).

Expanding Vocabulary and Syntax: From 4 to 5 years old, children demonstrate significant growth in their vocabulary and sentence structure. They acquire more words and can form more complex sentences with conjunctions, adjectives, and adverbs.

Language Refinement: As children grow older, their language skills continue to refine through exposure, practice, and interaction with others.

They develop a more extensive vocabulary, improve their grammar, and acquire new language functions like storytelling and persuasion.

The usual order of the development of spoken language in children is from cooing and babbling to producing words, then combining words into simple sentences, and finally acquiring more complex grammar rules.

The development of spoken language in children typically follows a specific order. It begins with the prelinguistic stage, where infants make cooing and babbling sounds. During this stage, babies experiment with different sounds and learn to control their vocal cords. This stage usually occurs between birth and around six months of age.

As children grow older, they enter the holophrastic stage. This stage is characterized by the production of their first words. Around the age of one, children start uttering simple words like 'mama' or 'dada.' They use these words to express their basic needs and desires.

After the holophrastic stage, children progress to the telegraphic stage. In this stage, they begin combining words to form simple sentences. For example, a child might say 'want milk' to express their desire for a drink. During this stage, children focus on conveying their main message and may omit certain grammatical elements.

Finally, as children continue to develop their language skills, they acquire more complex grammar rules and vocabulary. They become more fluent in their speech and can express themselves in a more sophisticated manner. This stage of language development continues throughout childhood and adolescence.

The crop rotation system played a crucial role in the Agricultural Revolution in Britain, leading to increased food production, population growth, and ultimately, the Industrial Revolution.

The crop rotation system that developed in Britain during the 18th century was a significant agricultural innovation. However, this system had limitations and led to decreased agricultural productivity.

The development of the crop rotation system in Britain involved the introduction of a four-field system, which allowed for more efficient land use and improved soil fertility. Instead of leaving one field fallow each year, farmers divided their land into four fields and rotated crops across them in a specific sequence.

The key components of this system included rotating crops such as wheat, barley, turnips, and clover across the four fields. In the first year, wheat or barley would be planted, followed by turnips or other root crops in the second year, then clover or other legumes in the third year, and finally, fallow in the fourth year. This rotation helped replenish soil nutrients, control pests and diseases, and increase crop yields.

The crop rotation system that developed in Britain revolutionized agricultural practices.

The development of the crop rotation system in Britain brought about a significant transformation in agricultural practices. Prior to its implementation, traditional farming methods, such as the medieval three-field system, limited productivity and depleted soil fertility over time. However, the crop rotation system introduced a more sustainable approach by dividing fields into different crop types over successive seasons.

Crop rotation involved the systematic rotation of crops within a specific field or farm. The primary principle behind this practice was to enhance soil health and maximize crop yields. Farmers would allocate different plots of land for growing crops from different plant families, such as grains, legumes, and root vegetables. This approach helped break the cycle of soil nutrient depletion and reduced the prevalence of pests and diseases.

The benefits of the crop rotation system were multifaceted. First, it allowed farmers to replenish soil nutrients naturally. For instance, legumes like peas and beans were known to fix nitrogen from the air, enriching the soil with this vital element. Additionally, different crop types had varying root structures, helping to improve soil structure and prevent erosion.

Furthermore, crop rotation disrupted the life cycles of pests and diseases, as each crop had specific vulnerabilities. By altering the planting sequence, farmers minimized the buildup of harmful organisms in the soil, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. This approach also reduced the risk of crop failure, as the diversified rotation decreased the likelihood of widespread devastation caused by a single pest or disease outbreak.

dining area chairs should have ____________ backs than lounge chairs.

Answers

Dining area chairs should have more upright backs than lounge chairs.

When considering the design and functionality of dining area chairs and lounge chairs, it is important to recognize that they serve different purposes and accommodate different activities. Dining area chairs are specifically designed for dining and provide support for proper posture while sitting at a table. Therefore, they typically have more upright backs compared to lounge chairs.

The upright back of a dining chair promotes a more formal and engaged seating position, allowing individuals to comfortably sit at a table for meals or other activities that require a straight posture. The vertical alignment of the backrest provides support to the spine and encourages proper alignment, ensuring that individuals can comfortably sit and enjoy their meals without straining their backs.

On the other hand, lounge chairs are designed for relaxation and comfort. They often have more reclined backs, allowing individuals to lean back and unwind. Lounge chairs prioritize comfort and a relaxed sitting position, making them suitable for activities like reading, watching TV, or simply lounging.

Explain the similarities and differences between scalawags and carpetbaggers.

Answers

The Reconstruction era was a complex period in the United States, marked by several political, economic, and social changes.

Scalawags and carpetbaggers were prominent at this time. This response will compare these two groups. During Reconstruction, northern white men helped rebuild the South as carpetbaggers. "Carpetbaggers" arrived in the south with carpet bags. They recognized political and financial prospects in the South and focused on those. They were merchants and politicians.

However, the Scalawags were white southern Republicans who supported Reconstruction. They wanted political power and an end to the Southern one-party system. Scalawags who supported the Union during the Civil War regarded the Republican Party as a chance to protect those beliefs and gain power in the South. Both parties sought political and financial gain and saw Reconstruction-era chances in the South. They also helped the Republican Party succeed in the South. Carpetbaggers were from the north and scalawags were from the south. Carpetbaggers rebuilt the South, while scalawags sought political power.

In conclusion, the scalawags and carpetbaggers played significant roles in the Reconstruction era, albeit in different ways.
