The only foreshadowing in this story that I could recall was when I read “Oh no. If he tossed the lit dynamite off the bridge, we’d still be blown to bits. Duffy clutched the dynamite to his chest and started across to Buster’s side, the fuse burned, sparking and sputtering behind him, getting shorter with each step he took.”. That was the sentence that I got an idea of what was about to happen, after this paragraph Duffy sacrifices himself to save the others.

Answers

Answer: It occurred to me that the sole foreshadowing in this narrative was "Oh no. The lighted dynamite on the bridge would still blast us to shreds if it was thrown off the bridge. A short fuse flared behind him as Duffy crossed to Buster's side." Duffy sacrifices himself to save the others, and I knew exactly what was going to happen as I read that statement.
