Involves the creation of new cells

Answers

Answer 1
Cell division, or mitosis, is a vital process in the life cycle of all living organisms. It is the process by which a single cell divides into two identical daughter cells, each containing the same genetic material as the parent cell. During mitosis, the genetic material is replicated and then divided equally between the two daughter cells. This process is essential for the growth and development of organisms, as well as for the repair and replacement of damaged or worn out cells. Mitosis also plays an important role in the reproduction of organisms, as it is the process by which new cells are created.

Answer:

Science fiction is a time-sensitive subject in literature. Usually futuristic, science fiction speculates about alternative ways of life made possible by technological change, and hence has sometimes been called "speculative fiction." Like fantasy, and often associated with it, science fiction envisions alternative worlds with believably consistent rules and structures, set apart somehow from the ordinary or familiar world of our time and place. Distinct from fantasy, however, science fiction reflects on technology to consider how it might transform the conditions of our existence and change what it means to be human. "Sci-Fi" is the genre that considers what strange new beings we might become-what mechanical forms we might invent for our bodies, what networks and systems might nourish or tap our life energies, and what the machine shells might contain our souls.

When do I need to use a comma before because

Answers

If you need to use a comma with the word “because” in a sentence, you will typically place the comma before “because” rather than after. The word “because” is a subordinating conjunction connecting a dependent clause (or subordinate clause) to an independent clause (or main clause) to make a complex sentence.

Most of the time “Because” is considered a purpose clause that’s responsible for providing a purpose of the action stated in the independent clause. “Because” explains why something happened, which makes it subordinate to the beginning of the sentence, an independent clause.

Answer:

General Explanation: Most of the time, you shouldn't use a comma before 'because' when it connects two clauses in a sentence. 'Because' is a subordinating conjunction, which means that it connects a subordinate clause to an independent clause. People dictate that there should be no comma between these two clauses. However, you can use it when the main clause of a sentence contains a negative verb. When you insert a comma before because lets the reader know 'the reason for a negative statement'

Example of a comma before because: I didn't order the book online, because I was running out of reading material.

Subordinate Clause: A subordinate clause contains a subject noun and a verb. For example, in the sentence 'I played out until it went dark', the phrase 'until it went dark' is the subordinate clause because it requires additional information in order to make sense. One thing to note is that unlike an independent clause, it cannot stand alone as a sentence.

Independant Clause: An independent clause is the combination of at least one subject and predicate. It expresses a complete thought. For example: 'The waves crashed onto the sandy shore.' Like the titles says, an independent clause is independant, meaning it can stand alone in a sentence. Be sure not to confuse it with a dependent clause which means its a clause that can't stand alone as a sentence and 'depends' on another clause being there in a sentence. For example: 'While I go to the grocery store' is a dependent clause because it is not a complete sentence. Another independent clause example: 'I enjoy sitting by the fireplace and reading.'

Excerpt 1:

Excerpt from "Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation" given by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, delivered 8 December 1941, Washington, D.C.

Yesterday, December 7th, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.1

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Excerpt 2:

Excerpt from a 1917 speech given by Senator George Norris opposing America's entry into World War I.

While I am most emphatically and sincerely opposed to taking any step that will force our country into the useless and senseless war now being waged in Europe, yet, if this resolution passes, I shall not permit my feeling of opposition to its passage to interfere in any way with my duty either as a senator or as a citizen in bringing success and victory to American arms. I am bitterly opposed to my country entering the war, but if, notwithstanding my opposition, we do enter it, all of my energy and all of my power will be behind our flag in carrying it on to victory.

The resolution now before the Senate is a declaration of war. Before taking this momentous step, and while standing on the brink of this terrible vortex, we ought to pause and calmly and judiciously consider the terrible consequences of the step we are about to take. We ought to consider likewise the route we have recently traveled and ascertain whether we have reached our present position in a way that is compatible with the neutral position which we claimed to occupy at the beginning and through the various stages of this unholy and unrighteous war.

No close student of recent history will deny that both Great Britain and Germany have, on numerous occasions since the beginning of the war, flagrantly violated in the most serious manner the rights of neutral vessels and neutral nations under existing international law, as recognized up to the beginning of this war by the civilized world.
